Volunteer readers needed

January 29, 2025 by Staff Writer

The SouthCoast Community Foundation seeks community-minded individuals to join its team of volunteer readers for its 2025 scholarship program. This rewarding opportunity allows volunteers to play a pivotal role in shaping the futures of local students while supporting the Community Foundation’s commitment to access to education.

Each year, the Foundation awards over $800,000 in scholarships to students across 41 cities and towns in southeastern Massachusetts. These scholarships help young people pursue higher education and achieve their dreams. Volunteer readers are essential to the scholarship selection process, bringing their unique experiences to evaluate applications and ensure a fair and equitable review.

What volunteer readers do:

• Review and score scholarship applications through an easy-to-use online platform.

• Dedicate approximately 20 hours during the month of February to reading applications.

• Provide thoughtful and constructive feedback that helps identify deserving candidates.

Who can volunteer? Anyone with a passion for education, equity, and community impact is encouraged to apply. No priosr experience is necessary, and training will be provided to ensure volunteers feel confident and prepared.

How to get Involved: Visit bit.ly/3CisxNq to sign up for an info session. Applications are open until January 31st. For questions, please contact aheard@southcoastcf.org
