Fairhaven Fire Department Press Release
On Wednesday, 10/9/24, at 12:48 a.m. the Fairhaven Fire Department responded to a commercial fire alarm with multiple dining room alarms activated at Sweet Ginger, 181 Huttleston Avenue
Engine 2, Ladder 1, and Engine 4 responded. The first engine company on scene noted a light smoke condition from a roof top vent, as well as a smoke condition inside the dining room through the window.
Entry was gained through the kitchen door, and a small fire on the stove was located and extinguished immediately with a water extinguisher. Crews remained on scene until approximately 2:20 AM ventilating the structure in both Sweet Ginger and the adjacent restaurant, Domino’s Pizza.
The fire was accidental, determined to be caused due to the stove having been left on unintentionally. A pot melted, causing a small fire and smoke condition.
The business owners mitigated any issues and the Town of Fairhaven Board of Health approved the restaurant to be open for business.
