Fairhaven Rotary held its annual Scholarship Recipient Dinner on Wednesday, August 21st at Traveler’s AleHouse. This year’s scholarship winners were Sophia Fleurent, who is going to be attending Bridgewater State University; and Aaron Palhuta, who is attending Wentworth Institute of Technology. Each recipient was awarded $500. Mr. Palhuta’s parents accepted his scholarship award, as he was already away at school.
This year’s scholarship was the first of the Robert M. Mitchell Scholarship Fund, honoring and remembering long-time Rotarian of 48 years, Robert Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell passed away in May of this year. Gratefully, Mr. Mitchell’s daughters, Jennifer, Heather and Karen were in attendance to award the scholarships and will be part of the Rotary Scholarship Committee in the future.
