John Deaton will be the Republican to face incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Warren for senator in the general election on 11/3. Mr. Deaton and two other Republicans, Robert Antonellis and Ian Cain, faced off in the primary election on Tuesday, 9/3, with Mr. Deaton coming out on top according to the Associated Press.*
Unofficial results from Fairhaven show the same result with Mr. Deaton receiving 664 votes; Robert Antonellis with 151; Ian Cain with 44. In Acushnet,* Mr. Deaton received 398 votes; Mr. Antonellis 117; and Mr. Cain, 41.
Incmbent State Sen. Mark Montigny (D), Second Bristol & Plymouth, beat his rival, Molly Kivi, 1286–305 in Fairhaven, and 537–123 in Acushnet. District wide, the race had not been called by press time, but Sen. Montigny was leading 7,248 to 1,805 with 84% of votes counted, according to the Boston Globe. He has no Republican challenger.
In the 10th Bristol district, Mark Sylvia of Fairhaven ran unopposed on the Democratic side. On the Republican side, Joe Pires came out on top with 519 votes; Robert McConnell of Fairhaven got 365 votes.
In Acushnet, voters in Precinct 1 & 2A are in 10th Bristol District and precincts 2 & 3 are in the 8th Bristol
In the 10th, they voted for Pires, with 136 votes to 71 for McConnell.
In the 8th, Democrat Steven Ouellette of Westport was unopposed. He has no Republican opponent in the general election. District-wide results were not available by press time.
In other races, incumbent US Rep. Bill Keating (D) ran unopposed and will face off against Republican challenger Dan Sullivan.
Turnout was 14.36% in Acushnet, and approximately 19% in Fairhaven.**
