Rescue in Little Bay

A man described as an avid kayaker had to be rescued from Little Bay on August 15 at about 9 p.m.

The man was kayaking when a squall knocked him out of his kayak. He screamed and people on shore called 911. Police used the drone to try to locate the man.

He was rescued by police and the Fairhaven Harbormaster a little after 9 p.m. with some back injuries and exposure.

He had been in the water for more than an hour.
