Water Main Break
The Fairhaven public works department spent most of Saturday working on a water main break at the corner of Timothy Street and Sconticut Neck Road.
The water department sent out an alert around noon warning residents on Sconticut Neck that they may experience dirty water due to the disruption.
A small leak went undetected during construction in the area on another project. According to ML Baron, of West Island Weather, Vinnie Furtado, the BPW Superintendent said the water pressure during day usage kept the leak at a minimum. During the night when the water demand was minimal, pressure built up. The break caused some flooding in the immediate area of the break.

Rescue in Little Bay
A man described as an avid kayaker had to be rescued from Little Bay on August 15 at about 9 p.m.
The man was kayaking when a squall knocked him out of his kayak. He screamed and people on shore called 911. Police used the drone to try to locate the man.
He was rescued by police and the Fairhaven Harbormaster a little after 9 p.m. with some back injuries and exposure.
He had been in the water for more than an hour.
