The Planning Board held a public hearing on the 40R project (see page 4). And, again, Mr. Carr and Mr. DaSilva took part in the discussion, insisting it’s okay as long as they don’t vote at the end. Mr. Carr even ran the public hearing portion of the meeting.
I’ve yet to see any guidance from the Ethics Commission that says it’s okay. They both own property in the proposed 40R district and that means they will benefit if the proposal passes.
They said they would check with Ethics, but, well, we’ve heard that before, right? And we’ve never seen a thing to prove it.
They also refused to name the mysterious developer who wants to build a 40B project in the waterfront district. They say it’s public info, but then won’t say the name. This, my dear board members, does not make people want to trust you with this bylaw, no matter how many times you say you won’t ruin the town.
Town Meeting members, are you there?
Our cover story is about the changing of the guard at the police department. Daniel Dorgan officially took the reins on Saturday. And former chief, Mike Myers, put on his retirement smile. It was a fun event, with lots of hope in the air. And lots of police officers went, even the one who’s not too happy with the choice. Glad you were there, Matt. Good call. Of course, the beard threw me off. Honestly, I didn’t see you until I looked at my pictures. Go figure.
See page 12 for the story. Use the link for a few extra pictures that wouldn’t fit in the printed pages.
The Teddy Bear parade and Touch A Truck are both this weekend. The Teddy Bear parade is the cutest thing ever.* And Touch-A-Truck? Well, who isn’t tempted to sit in a big truck and hit that horn? See page 5 for details.
There’s a lot of other stuff in here, of course, including lots of happenings. Make sure you notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
*The Teddy Bear parade has been postpone to 8/31. The information came in after press time.
