On June 23rd, 2024 there was a wonderful family gathering for the 102nd birthday of Marian Purington (“Nana”).
Family came from five different states to celebrate this incredible landmark.
Marian, originally from Framingham, lives in Fairhaven and can often be seen playing Mahjong, attending church or enjoying family get togethers.
This incredible woman has three children, nine grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
She humbly served as a Red Cross nurse in Boston during the WWII years and married her sweetheart, Harold “Hal/Boppa” Purington, 71 years ago. Hal passed away 10 years ago and is remembered daily by Marian.
When we stop and think about a life of 102 years, it’s incredible to realize the vast experiences and historical milestones Marian has experienced. Being born in 1922, this amazing lady lived through the great depression, World War II, Women’s Rights Movements, Vietnam War, civil rights movements, the invention of cable, computers, the internet and so much more!!!!
May we all enjoy life as much as Marian is and hold onto family with the ferocity she always has.
