All right! The spring stuff is really kicking in, starting with Town Meeting this Saturday for Fairhaven. In my experience, the first Saturday in May is usually gorgeous…just gorgeous, making it hard to be inside all day. But, it’s important, folks. See pages 3 and 4. On page 3, there’s a story about Patrick Carr, who is on the Planning Board and owns a container company, deliberating and voting on a bylaw change regarding containers. His attorney says it is not a change, and so does PB chairperson Cathy Melanson (see page 11). Maybe I’m just dense, because it sure looks like a change to me. When stuff is underlined, that’s a change. That’s the nature of the beast. They are saying that all they are doing is adding a definition for containers. So, why do we need that if there isn’t some kind of change?

I am very confused. I have been doing this for 19 years and I cannot make heads or tails of this crazy way to make bylaws changes. They should each be done separately, and all the bylaws language surrounding the changes should be there so we can see what the bylaw will actually say after the changes are made.

I just don’t get it. And, unfortunately (dare I say it out loud), I don’t think they get it either.

We really need to take our time with this one. Too many changes, too fast, and too many conflicting explanations.

On a lighter note, the Cherry Blossom Festival is this weekend, too (see page 5). And there are all kinds of walks and fairs and other outside stuff coming up (see pages 5, 6, 7).

Our cover story is a fun one. Of course, young’uns are involved, so….see page 16. And, our own Terry Pereira turned 90! Yup. See page 17 for that.

There’s other stuff in here, of course. While you’re looking, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.

Until next week then, see ya
