There’s a lot happening at the Fort Taber-Fort Rodman Historical Association, 1000 Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford, on Sun., 4/28, to honor the achievements and sacrifices of America’s veterans.

The museum will open to visitors at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
At 1 p.m. the 80th anniversary ceremony to honor Exercise Tiger will take place. Exercise Tiger was a rehearsal for the D-Day invasion that went tragically wrong, claiming the lives of nearly 1,000 American servicemen April 28, 1944 at Slapton Sands, England.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the museum’s indoor Exercise Tiger display, which features new museum-grade cabinets and a wall mounting listing the names of those who gave their lives that tragic day.
The day’s events will also include the unveiling of the refurbished and remounted canvas mural. The mural depicts the New Bedford-based 212th Artillery Battalion and its landing and march to victory across Europe in World War II.
