The following candidates are running for a seat on the Fairhaven Board of Public Works. There are two seats on the ballot. See letter from Brian Messier announcing a write-in campaign. It is the policy of the Neighb News to run candidate statements only for declared candidates who are on the ballot.

Robert “Hoppy” Hobson
I have been on the Board of Public Works since 2006. I ran on the board to push for getting streets paved, especially on Sconticut Neck and West Island. I feel I have helped get that done, although there are more to do.
The strongest thing about me as a member of the board, is that I get results for residents. People contact me directly all the time and I do my best to help them. When they call, I get results.
During my time on the board, we have improved the bike path and put through many improvements to town parks, such as pickleball courts, and the BMX track at Macomber Park.
I have been a big supporter of any improvements that make our parks better for the kids. I also speak out for veterans, making sure they come first when we are hiring.
During my time on the board, we worked to change out the water meters, so they can be read in the office. This means leaks are found ahead of time, as they are happening, instead of homeowners getting a huge bill and then realizing, too late, that they had a leak.
I have always been interested in town politics. I am a former owner of Hoppy’s Landing, a retired police officer, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
I have lived in Fairhaven for more than 40 years, in East Fairhaven and on Sconticut Neck.
I have been married to my wife, “Saint Jacqueline” for 58 years. We have a daughter, Holly, who lives in Fairhaven with her husband and their two children.
I ask for your vote on April 1 so I can continue the work I’ve been doing the BPW for the past 18 years.
Hillary Rotondo
Friends & Neighbors of Fairhaven,
My name is Hillary Rotondo and I am running for a seat on the Board of Public Works in the upcoming town election.
For those of you who don’t know me, I have been a resident in town since 2011 when my husband and I chose this beautiful community to plant roots and raise a family.
Like many of you, I am so proud to call Fairhaven home and I have a great love for our historic buildings, green spaces, recreation areas, and beaches.
I have been an active town meeting member for Precinct 6 for the past three years and have truly enjoyed getting a better understanding of town issues, budgetary concerns, and also hearing different points of view on various articles.
As such, I have realized that I want to get more involved in town infrastructure and help where I can.
With my background as a local realtor and an owner of two small businesses, I know the importance of being fiscally responsible, coming up with ways to cover expenses creatively, reassessing items annually, all in an effort to keep fees down.
I also understand the intricacies of managing time, looking at all sides of an issue, taking time to stop and think, and of course, as a Mom of two children, patience and empathy.
I am excited to help my community tackle the issues we all care about and contribute to the greater good of the town I love.
I, like all of you, want to see Fairhaven succeed and grow, but not at the expense of our residents.
I would greatly appreciate your support and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
I look forward to working together!
All the Best, Hillary Rotondo
