Patricia A. (Martins) August, 86, of Fairhaven passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 8, 2024. She was the former wife of the late Joseph S. August.
Born and raised in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Antonio R. Martins and Mary T. (Demaris) Sitarz, she lived the New Bedford/Fairhaven area all of her life. She had worked at UMass Dartmouth from 1992-2015 in the cafeteria until her retirement. Pat enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, knitting and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary A. August-Freitas and her husband Gary Freitas of Dartmouth, Janice E. August of Silver Springs, FL and Karen T. Goodhue and her husband Paul of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Nicole Medeiros, Kathleen Marchessault, Kerri Farland and Sarah Ledoux; six great grandchildren, Maxwell, Alexander, Adriana, Grant, Addison and Olivia; her siblings, Anthony R. Martins and his wife Pat of New Bedford, Joan Bertrand of VA and Bruce Sylvia of New Bedford; a brother-in-law, Paul Belliveau of Acushnet; and several nieces and nephews. Pat was the sister of the late Carolyn E. Belliveau.
