Fairhaven has received the go-ahead from the state to fix the sidewalk on Causeway Road, due to the emergency nature of the work.
Fairhaven Highway Superintendent Josh Crabb said the public works department will open for bids in a couple of weeks with the hope hat work can start in the middle of April.
The work includes removing the sidwalk and Causeway Road curbing and replacing them. He said they will have to excavate down to the boulders to find a solid foundation to have something good to bond do.
The new sidewalk will include improvements such as more concrete and some wrapping of the sides along the trench.
“My goal is to get it done before beach season,” said Mr. Crabb.
If that means they have to work weekends or nights, they will do that, but he believes that will not be necessary.
