Fairhaven Town Administrator Angie Lopes Ellison has been named one of four finalists in the Town Manager search in Bloomfield, CT.
Ms. Ellison told the Neighb News that the town reached out to her. She had previously interviewed with them before being hired by Fairhaven in 2022.
“It’s an opportunity,” she said, and noted that it is a “very diverse community.”
Fairhaven is 95% white. Ms. Ellison is a Woman of Color and has said publicly that she has experienced both subtle and overt racism and sexism since becoming the TA. She is also in negotiations with the Select Board to renew her contract which expires in April of 2025.
Bloomfield is a town with a population of about 21,500 and a $100+ million budget.
It is “majority-minority” community with 56% of the population identifying as Black, 30% white, 7% Hispanic or Latino/a, 4% Asian, and 3% other. Median Household income is $81,354.
