Hang on, Fairhaven voters, we’re in for a ride (I think)!
Okay, the candidate field isn’t set for sure until 2/28, which is the last day for candidates to change their minds and drop out.
But, as of now, we have four contested races: Select Board, School Committee, Planning Board, Board of Health. Whoohoo!!! See page 14 for details.
Meanwhile, budget season is upon us. This week begins the joint meetings with the Select Board and the Finance Committee. I fear the financial outlook may not be so hot after the 2 1/2 override failed last year. But, that’s for another week. I’ll let the numbers people mess with all that for a bit.
The Recycling Center has officially moved. We’ve been talking about it for a couple of years now, ever since the upgrade to the treatment plant became inevitable. See page 12 for what you need to know to use the center, and get some info on the treatment plant upgrade.
We have a fair amount of Black History Month events in here this week. See pages 4, 5, 6, 7 for those. Some are in Fairhaven, some in Acushnet, and some in other places. So, you have some choices.
There’s other stuff in here of course. Be sure to check out ALL the pages in this week’s little miracle. And while you do, please be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News. If you’ve been paying attention at all to national trend type stuff, you know that local news outlets are dropping like flies. And you also know how important local news outlets are. So, please support our advertisers, encourage your friends who have businesses to advertise with us; encourage businesses you frequent to advertise with us; and, if you can, donate directly yourself.
Until next week then, see ya
