Committee Appointment Process: Just Showing Up is Not Enough
Does longevity really count for anything? Sometimes, yes. However, has anyone ever experienced a teacher whose teaching was mediocre, but by virtue of longevity was afforded tenure at the expense of the students’ need?
Attendance on a committee is not an assurance of advancement on that committee. What is considered an assurance of advancement is the drive that inspired that person to join that particular committee to begin with and NOT AS A LADDER to the next rung.
We all experience disappointment, but sulking doesn’t solve anything, and showing up does not automatically mean you get a ribbon either.
