Winter storms are making a mess in these parts, with the last week of high tides causing the waves to crash over the West Island causeway dragging seaweed and other debris with it, and causing erosion along the coast. Then a little bit of snow followed on Monday, about two inches in Fairhaven. Most of that was washed away by rain, but then the frigid 20-something temperatures rolled in, freezing what was left. It seems winter is finally here.
