Fairhaven’s 19th Old-Time Holiday event livened up the center of town this weekend with hundreds of people visiting the Town Hall Shops, craft and vendor fairs at the First Congregational Church and the Unitarian Memorial Church, a book fair at the Millicent Library, and a visit from Santa at the Town Hall Sing-along.
Clarisa Franklin, who was visiting from North Carolina, took the time to pose with the Ghost of Christmas Present, aka, Office of Tourism Director Christopher Richard.
Ms. Franklin said she was enjoying the event, but…it was “really, really cold.”
And that was before the cold snap. Eight-year-old Edyn bought Floyd and the Irressistible Cookie from author Kristine Daniels, who personalized it.
Organized by the Friends of the Millicent Library, the event was considered a success by organizers and authors.
“It was fun,” said Ms. Daniels. “It’s nice for the community and authors.”
She said there was a variety of titles and a lot of people attended the readings and bought books.
“This was fun,” said Donna Lee Tufts, who was selling copies of her book, From My Kayak. “I met other authors. I never get this opportunity.”
“The talks went splendidly,” said Maggi Peirce who was selling copies of A Belfast Girl. “People showed up…and asked good questions.”
The Old-Time Holiday event is sponsored by the Fairhaven Office of Tourism, www.fairhaventours.com, 508-979-4085.
