It’s hard to believe it’s been 22 years since the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
I didn’t realize that Acushnet commemorated the day with a short ceremony on Monday. I only realized it now when I just checked. You can see the ceremony on the town’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCLNcWu1aiQ
Acushnet’s 9-11 memorial is at the Fire Station, 24 Russell St., at Parting Ways near town hall. The memorial features a six-foot steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center site, a piece of the Pentagon building damaged in the attacks, and a stone from the field in Pennsylvania in which Flight 93 crashed.
The public is invited to visit the memorial any time of day or night. It was dedicated on 9/11/11.
Hurricane Lee can’t make up its mind. We are in the “cone of uncertainty” (see page 3). It appears it might veer off to the east and leave us with some dangerous rip currents, but not the big winds and rain. But, we won’t know until we know. See page 4 for a hurricane checklist. If not Lee, maybe another.
Apple-Peach is back, with parade and pageant. See page 12 for that.
Conrad Roy III’s family held the second annual 5k in his memory and to raise money and awareness for Conrad’s Law, that would make it illegal to coerce suicide in Mass. See page 13 for that.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. As you look through, be sure to notice who our advertisters are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya
