Der Frankie

August 9, 2023 by Staff Writer

Snack Swiper

Dear Frankie,

The first thing I do when I get to doggie daycare is unpack my backpack.

I am very organized and like to check what my mom has sent for a snack. Then I store my snack in my cubie.

On those rare occasions when I forget to bring my snack, the daycare secretary calls my mom to bring it to the center.

My snack has been missing recently, so I know someone has been taking it from my cubie.

When I mentioned it to a few friends, they said it was also happening to them. I asked Lionel, our class president if he knew who it was. He said he suspected it was Roxy because she had been expelled from her last daycare.

Should I tell Roxy what Lionel said and ask her if she’s the thief?

Panda

Dear Panda,

Under no circumstances should you discuss the matter with Roxy.

What if Lionel is wrong? She would be crushed. Even if he is right, would she admit to being the thief?

Either way, it is a lose-lose for you.

The thefts need to be reported to the principal. I wonder why the thief is stealing food and not items of much greater value, such as backpacks or collars. Could it be that they are not getting enough to eat at home and is hungry? This wouldn’t be the first dog in America who is living on the line nutritionally.

I think the principal should explore all possibilities for the cause of the theft before any of you point your paws.

Best, Frankie
