Memorial Day is a somber reflection of the sacrfices made by those who serve in the military, and especially those who are no longer with us. It is also a holiday, though, so people can’t help having fun. Fairhaven held a serious ceremony at Riverside, but also had a fun parade to kick off summer. I hope you had both time to reflect on the meaning of the holiday and some time to have some fun and enjoy the good weather. See page 12 for our story.
Monday is override vote day. See page 20 for some letters trying to sway you on how to vote.
Really, though, get out and vote. Take a little time to read up on the facts, though. Figure out how you want to vote. I’m not going to say a whole lot about it. I will just say something we all know, but need reminding of occasionally: You get what you pay for.
This weekend really is the unofficial start of summer, with the encampment and the Blessing of the Bikes (see page 3) happening, and the high school graduation. Oh yeah, there’s way more happening than that. Check out our Happenings pages for more fun stuff.
Speaking of graduation, if you want to run an ad to tell your grad congratulations, just shoot an email our way. See the ad on page 4 for sizes and rates. We’ll need that ASAP.
The Acushnet Grange (page 7) and Acushnet Lions (page 6) both gave out some awards recently.
Please let our advertisers know you saw their ads in the Neighb News. Without them, we could not survive. We also rely on donations from our readers. If even just half my readers donated $20/year, we’d be all set. So please consider supporting your local newspaper.
Until next week then…see ya,
