Seniors Can Not Afford Override
As a senior citizen in the town of Fairhaven who lives on a very, very fixed income, I have paid taxes in Fairhaven for 70+ years. I urge my fellow citizens in Fairhaven to vote no on the Proposition 2 1/2 override.
I believe that once the town gets an override they can do what they want with the money and distribute it where they want, and it just won’t stop this year.
With the cost of inflation, Social Security benefits haven’t kept up, and the cost of Medicare has gone up.
People who live on a fixed income and are elderly sometimes can’t pay their taxes or buy food. As an elderly person I have trouble paying for food, rent, and other necessities that a senior citizen needs.
Inflation is at its worst. If we vote to override Proposition 2 1/2 it will go on and on and the politicians can keep the money and do whatever they want with it.
How can Fairhaven politicians even think about overriding Proposition 2 1/2? Shame on you!
I’ve been a teacher in Fairhaven for many, many years, a social worker, and again a teacher in Fairhaven. I was Mrs. Chadwick and Mrs. Gardella. I’m very active in a lot of organizations.
How can people vote when senior citizens are starving to override Proposition 2 1/2?
Vote “no” on Monday 6/5.
Anne Chadwick Gardella, Fairhaven
