Here it is! It’s officially the shopping season. We don’t need a movement to tell us to shop small, we always do small business shopping in these parts, right?
Check out page 12 for great ideas for all your holiday shopping. You’ll be supporting our advertisers who support your favorite weekly newspaper. And, you’ll get all your gifts taken care of, too.
We have other stuff in here, of course. Acushnet managed to get Town Meeting done (see page 16), and had some fun at it, too. Now, see, that wasn’t so hard was it?
Fairhaven had a feisty Selectboard meeting, too. See page 4 for that. The remote-vote thing is dead, for now anyway. That’s good. What a bad idea.
Kathy Sturtevant resigned, and, presumably, will be off to Florida for four months. She had wanted to have it both ways, but it wasn’t to be. She has been a dedicated elected official for many years, and for that we should thank her. But nothing lasts forever. It’s time to give someone else a chance.
The food drives and toy drives are kicking into high gear. See pages 5, 8, 9 for those. The kids at East Fairhaven School loaded up some trucks with their donation to the food pantry (see page 19). Wood School isn’t in this week, but hopefully next week we’ll have a count on their contribution to the cause.
We’ve only three issues left this year, so if you have anything going on, you’d better get them in soon. We will not be publishing the last two weeks in December so I can get a little Christmas (ee all need a little Christmas, yes?). So, if you have any holiday stuff going on that you want your neighbors to know about, let me know ASAP.
Page 5 has the Fairhaven happenings, but we’ve only just begun with that. The Old Time Holiday (see back cover) is in two weeks, and that’s got a bunch of activities going on, including one of my favorites, the Town Hall singalong.
Make sure you get next week’s issue. A lot of stuff scheduled for next weekend will be in that one. We just don’t have room to run all the listings both weeks.
There are Christmas lights getting turned on, visits from Santa (he will be ALL over this little burg in the next few weeks), big sales, little sales, and opportunities to volunteer.
So, keep your eyes and ears open, have a great Thanksgiving, try not to fight too hard about politics, and stay warm.
