In a program called the “Grass Roots Summit” visitors from Japan spend about a week in a city in the USA which has a Japanese connection.
Before returning to Japan, the visitors have an option of visiting another city in the USA for just a two-day visit. Because of Fairhaven’s connection with Manjiro and Capt. Whitfield (https://whitfield-manjiro.org), Fairhaven is a favorite destination for this short stay from Sept. 25 to 27. The Whitfield-Manjiro Friendship Society is looking for local host families for our Japanese visitors.
We need to know ASAP if you can help. The planners in Japan have to know ahead of time how many visitors we can accommodate, so we are trying to get some numbers soon.
Anyone willing to host can call Gerry Rooney, President of the WMFS, at 508-858-5303, and leave a message, or email him at gerry@wmfriendshiphouse.org
