Gardner Understands Current Issues
I wholeheartedly endorse Laura Gardner for the Fairhaven School Committee. She is passionate and dedicated to improving and supporting learning conditions for all students and staff.
Laura Gardner understands the current issues in schools both as an educator and as a parent in the Fairhaven school system. She has been the librarian at Dartmouth Middle School since 2009, and if you ever had the pleasure to step foot in her library, you would immediately see the welcoming, inclusive environment she creates.
As an educator with two decades of experience myself, I respect her passion for literacy, learning, and the environment. I met Laura last year in her library, and my first impression of her was that she is unapologetically an advocate for students. She tirelessly champions books and reading to not only improve skills, but to change students’ lives. Laura inspires hope in students and staff, something often missing at the administrative and district level during decision-making processes. Her years of working directly with students make her an ideal, informed expert for our School Committee.
For five years, Laura Gardner served on the Executive Board for the Massachusetts School Library Association, and she is the founder of Climate Reality Massachusetts Southcoast for renewable energy. She has her masters from Rutgers University in Library and Information Science and is National Board certified. She is also serving on the 2024 John Newbery Award Committee for children’s literature since she reads hundreds of children’s books a year. She is an example of what good community leadership looks like. Her energy and activism inspire others to rise to the occasion.
If you are looking for a candidate who actively listens and takes action to create positive change in our community, Laura Gardner is that person.
