Wed., 3/8, 5:30-8:30pm at First Unitarian Church, 71 8th St. (corner Union and County), New Bedford, program begins at 6:30.
International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements around the world, raising awareness on the challenges women face, and determining ways of achieving gender equality. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity.
In honor of this day, Women’s Alliance of Southeastern Massachusetts, Women’s Fund SouthCoast and multiple other local organizations are hosting International Women’s Day — Celebrating 50 Years of the Local Women’s Movement. Attendees can view and contribute to a timeline of local women’s herstory spanning the last 50 years, listen to featured poets, singers, activists, and speakers, and learn about organizations serving local women. Light refreshments and desserts. All are welcome.
Come and be among people working toward building a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can work to forge equality for women and all people. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.
