Hundreds of people showed up to celebrate with the Acushnet Fire Department at its annual lighting of the Christmas display at Fire Station #1 on Sunday, 12/4/22. The Ford Middle School Chorus led the crowd singing Christmas carols, Santa joined the party for photos, and children received coloring books and crayons. Hot chocolate and cookies rounded out the evening at the free event.
Acushnet Fire Chief Thomas Farland told the crowd that lighting the display was important so Santa could see them, as children giggled and literally squealed with delight and anticipation.
Children and their adults sang together until Santa arrived on a fire truck with lights and sirens screaming.
The display is at the Fire Station on Russell Street at Parting Ways, and will be lit every night until the beginning of January.
