Early voting has begun in Massachusetts. All registered voters may vote in their local municipalities until Friday, November 4. After that, they will have to wait until election day, Tuesday, 11/8.
In Fairhaven, voting is available at the Fairhaven Fire Station Meeting Room, 146 Washington St., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday until 11/4; and this Saturday, 10/29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (see ad on page 7).
On Monday, Rita McLeod, 91, took advantage of the opportunity to get her vote in early.
Her daughter, Elaine McLeod Pasquill, said they went to a doctor’s appointment and it was just very convenient to go vote after that.
“It was easy in, easy out, even with her walker. She loved interacting with the helpers there,” said Ms. Pasquill. “When I said I would take her there, she was so glad. It was important for her to vote and to be able to do her civic duty.”
In Acushnet, early voting is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 1 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Town Hall (see ad, page 16).
All cities and towns are required to have a voting booth set up for early voting.
