Just before the start of school in August Pam Nelson was diagnosed with a form of terminal cancer. Less than two months later, on 10/7/22, Deklan and Aiden lost their mom. For most of their lives, it has just been the three of them. Finding out your predominate parent has cancer is scary enough for any 15-year-old to stomach but losing her before she got a chance to make a plan for their future has been shocking and heartbreaking.
In addition to the profound sadness of losing their mom, they now face a second significant life change. They will be relocating to Florida to live with their father. While this allows them to develop a new stable relationship, they will now have a different parent, house, town, school, and even a state.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for funeral expenses and for a college trust fund for Deklan and Aiden.
