Eight small sailboats participated in the annual West Island Regatta at Hoppy’s Landing in Fairhaven on 8/13. The informal, friendly sailing competition presents a challenge to experienced and novice sailors. The boats sailed out of Hoppy’s Landing and through a three mile course. The name of this year’s winner was not available by press time. This year’s race had originally been scheduled for July 16, but was changed to 8/13. The change in date likely resulted in fewer boats participating.
