Letter_Hodgson Hitched to Trump

August 17, 2022 by Staff Writer

When you’ve hitched your star to a charlatan and dangerous conspiracy theories.

Of all the extra curricular activities, and job absences, that have engrossed Sheriff Hodgson through the years, one stands out above all the others: his chairing and cheering the re-election of Donald Trump.

And to insure continuing media attention, and to display allegiance to, in his estimation, “the best president we have ever had,” Hodgson has allied with several white supremacist organizations that have added the stolen election myth to their list of grievances. Glomming onto the mantra of a fixed election, while advocating for endless vote recounts and proposing to seize voting machines after the next election,  these organizations are one of the greatest threats to American democracy.

There is no reason to doubt that Hodgson, as an advisory board member of at least two of these organizations (FAIR and PAN), will immediately after November 8th, winning or losing his election, join the list of choristers hitching their careers, and fund generating activities, to this profoundly destructive conspiracy theory.

The November 8th election for sheriff of Bristol County is therefore the greatest opportunity for voters to repudiate Sheriff Hodgson and all the destructive rhetoric he has historically relied upon to the detriment of this community and the country. No longer having access to taxpayer’s resources and a host of paid employees, his standing and visibility will be greatly diminished. And he will have to retire his self designed uniform and remove the picture of himself, in what appears to be a confederate tie, that adorns the wall of the jail.

As an ordinary citizen, in a country favoring free speech, Hodgson can then travel, join, and privately subsidize all his favored organizations.
