The Fairhaven Acushnet Youth Baseball 12/U All Stars got a hometown sendoff on Tuesday, 8/2, just the before the team went to 2022 Cal Ripken World Series in Branson, Missouri. The boys are the 2022 state and regional champs.

Elected officials gathered in front of Acushnet Town Hall with about 100 spectators for a little speechmaking and the presentation of a $5,000 check to help the kids make the trip.

Then the team loaded up into fire trucks for a ride to Pope Park, then departure for the world series in MO.

Each team member also received a letter from the New England Patriots.

“Congratulations on your incredible achievement of winning the New England Regional Championship and punching your ticket to the Cal Ripken Worl Series,” reads the letter. “We know how hard it is to win a championship.”

“The work is not done yet,” says the letter in typical Patriots fashion. “Say focused.”

The letter goes on to tell the team to “make New England Proud and bring home another championship.”

“We wish you the very best. The entire New England Patriots organization will be rooting for you!”

The letter also has a picture of the Little League team.

The tournament in Ballparks of America in Branson will include 20 teams from around the country and eight international teams. FAYB will represent all of New England.

As of press time, the team had lost a couple but had also put one in the win column, beating Missouri 5-1. Find them on Facebook to follow their progress: https://www.facebook.com/FairhavenAcushnetYouthBaseball
