The New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park welcomes all to a five segment meet and greet with Hetty Howland Robinson Green, once the richest woman in America and the area’s most famous witch/ philanthropist/financial wizard.
Programs will be held at 1 pm the last Sunday of each month from May to September at the Park, 33 William Street, with free admission. Remaining dates are:
• 7/31: Friends and Foes: a look at her relationships with family and financial competitors.
• 8/18: How to Become a Millionaire: According to Hetty, it’s a simple task. Just follow her advice and you can’t lose.
• 9/25: The All Important Question: Where is Hetty’s Money now? The answer can be found in three last will and testaments, Hetty’s, her son, Ned’s and her daughter, Sylvia’s, minus, of course, inheritance taxes and legal maneuvers.
Hetty Green is re-enacted by retired teacher and long time Park volunteer, Irene Duprey-Gutierrez.
