A delightful, offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure of a boy and his insect friends take an amazing journey across the ocean. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean, and launches a journey of enormous proportions.
James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks, and plenty of disagreements along the way. James and the Giant Peach, Jr., is a brand-new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and witty and charming book this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.
The musical is directed by Sarah Lawrence, with vocal direction by Sarah Doner and Choreography by Julie Regan with production assistance by Chelsea Gomes and Patrick Lawrence.
Artistic Director, Sarah Lawrence is very excited to present another phenomenal musical.
“James and the Giant Peach, Jr., has been a joy to direct, our children are incredible and are giving one hundred and ten percent of their talent and energy to bring this musical to the stage”, Lawrence said, “This is our fourteenth year and we have been completely blown away by the talent they have assembled on the stage this year.”
“We are extremely proud to have so many polished actors on stage and crew members off, from the surrounding communities that make up SouthCoast Children’s Theatre. We can’t wait for you to see them live and in person”, said Lawrence.
SouthCoast Children’s Theatre is proud of the fact that they continue to provide children in the South Coast area an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of professional theatre for children at no charge to their families.
