May 14 is NALC Food Drive
For the first time in three years, since Covid-19, the U.S. Postal Service, in conjunction with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), will restart the “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive campaign on the second Saturday in May. Since its inception in 1993, this biggest one day food drive in this country, if not the world, where it has garnered billions of pounds of food for the needy, will continue on May 14. This annual event helps fill the shelves of local pantries that, at this time of year, need it most. During the week of May 8, postcards will be delivered to help remind you of this very important opportunity to help out the less fortunate in your area.
What you need to do is check your pantry shelves and cupboards and choose non-expired, non-perishable food items and leave it out by your mailbox or on your porch, by 8 a.m., on the morning of May 14. Your letter carrier or helper, will do the rest. It’s that simple.
