We invite everyone to the 83rd Annual Easter Ecumenical Sunrise Service on Sunday, 4/17/22 at Fort Phoenix, Fairhaven. Gates will open by 5:15am with the service beginning at 6:00am. A freewill offering will be taken up for Mobil Ministries, whose food truck goes out eight times a week to help feed and clothe the homeless and poor among us.
The foundation of our faith in Christianity rests in these words, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen”! We worship a living God who walked among us. He experienced as a man all our emotions. He cares for us and our hope is in Him.
We also are experiencing a personal “resurrection” as we come back together in person from our pandemic restrictions to join for our Easter Sunrise Service at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven. It is a remarkable experience, where we gather in the darkness of the early morning as one body sharing one faith, only seeing our diversity as the light dawns. Labels are not worn here even as an average of 20–30 churches are represented and an average attendance of 500 people.
We experience something special on the edge of the ocean between the huge granite outcroppings, which so closely resemble the caves where the Lord’s crypt was. Our prayer and true desire is that the spirit of unity experienced that day would continue throughout the year. In the early morning light filled with wonder and anticipation, we come to know God’s desire for us to be the Body of Christ.I
