Fairhaven is Fortunate to Have Hacking
Fairhaven is very fortunate to have someone as qualified as Heidi Hacking step forward to run for the Board of Health. She is offering her extensive education and professional experience in the Health Care industry to our community.
As a registered nurse, Heidi knows that educating people is a key component in preventive health. A major element of nursing is education. As healthcare professionals, nurses are trained to teach patients about their disease processes, surgeries, recoveries, safety, well-being, and prevention. Since Heidi has been doing this her entire career, it seems like a natural fit for her to bring education to the people of Fairhaven through the Board of Health.
Her impressive credentials with a Bachelor’s degree and two Masters degrees clearly demonstrate that she has a passion for learning and ensures that she will adapt easily and come up to speed very quickly in any area where she may not already have expertise.
She is a dedicated volunteer in our community and is known as a team player. This is an important attribute when serving on a Board and doing the best for your community.
Heidi’s Risk Management experience is a very unique skill set to bring to the Board of Health. Risk Management is all about proactivity and prevention. It’s finding ways to prevent negative things from happening or mitigating the damage that could otherwise be done without a thoughtful plan or policy in place. Heidi’s experience in this area and the critical thinking skills she has learned and demonstrated throughout the years will come into play when setting policies and establishing guidance to protect our community.
She is already accustomed to working with the Department of Public Health as well as other agencies. Additionally, she has significant experience in both setting policies and ensuring follow through.
Recently, health issues have been front and center, with major issues like the Pandemic and unsafe water conditions. There are, however, ever present risks in our community. Some examples include water borne diseases like Triple E, West Nile Virus, sanitation, environmental concerns, safety in food service and regulation of tobacco sales. Risk Management and critical thinking skills will always come into play in dealing with any of these issues. Heidi will be able to meet all these challenges head on and provide creative solutions to ensure our best interests are protected.
As a manager, Heidi demonstrates, on a daily basis, what it means to be a good communicator, to collaborate, take input, provide direction and evaluate outcomes. A good manager knows how important it is to lead by example and Fairhaven can count on Heidi to bring that skill set to her role as a member of the Board of Health.
If there is one thing we have learned over the past two years, it is how important the role of the Board of Health is in our community. That said, the last thing we should do is take our votes for this Board lightly. We have a very special opportunity to strengthen the Board by adding someone with a tremendous amount to offer and we should not let this opportunity pass us by.
Heidi Hacking’s education and experience will be a great asset to the Board of Health.
We will be voting for Heidi Hacking for the Board of Health this year and we hope you will consider doing the same.
Ann & Bob Espindola, Fairhaven
