Correy Will Impress You
Our annual town elections are in about a month, and I’m really excited for them. That shouldn’t be surprising here, though, right? We’re reading the Fairhaven Neighborhood News. This is the place for civic-minded, community-oriented folks to stay connected to our town.
Being invested in town politics and events is pretty new for me. I never felt like I had a place in the process and just trying to keep the mortgage paid and get my Wood School Scholars out of the house on time was more than enough to keep me busy.
Then last summer I watched the recall election process unfold. I saw so many people driven to action by a desire to improve our community and watched positive change play out in real time. That’s also when I happened to meet Leon Correy.
Since then, we’ve all had the chance to learn about Mr. Correy from last year’s campaign and his work in town. What truly impressed me was seeing how much of an impact one informed, motivated person can make. I’ve seen his character, his commitment to service, and his leadership. It has been inspiring.
So inspiring, actually, that I’ve started volunteering for committees and getting myself involved: for the first time, it feels like government isn’t just for the people that are already there. Mr. Correy’s committed to hearing and amplifying all the voices in our community, involving the youth and the underserved, and applying a lifetime of leadership and expertise for all of those voices, no matter how loud, active, or influential.
Whether we elect him or not, Mr. Correy has shown how hard he will continue to work for this town. I hope you’ll join me in voting for him on April 4th, and if you’re not certain, please take some time to meet him at an event or watch a few videos.
I’m sure Leon Correy will impress you as he has me, just as I’m sure he’s the best choice to represent us on the Select Board.
