Huntah, the COVID sniffing dog, took a tour of the Acushnet Senior Center after COVID testing on Saturday, 2/5/22. z1The dog ran around the room sniffing, while handler Capt. Paul Douglass of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, kept an eye on her.

Huntah did find a scent at the trash barrel, which did not surprise anyone. She did not find any trace of COVID in the room, on seats, tables, or people.

Capt. Douglas said it was no surprise that the trash barrel would have a trace because of the amount of gloves and other items used to test people. The rest of the room had been sanitized after testing.

The dog is one of only two in the country trained to detect COVID. She travels to schools and other facilities in the region on a regular basis.
