The Acushnet Selectboard held a brief meeting on 1/14/22 to announce that contract negotiations with Richard Lafond for the Interim Town Administrator position stopped when he notified them that he had taken another position.
Selectboard chairperson David Desroches said that Mr. Lafond had taken a position in western Mass.
“We wish him the best of luck concerning that position,” said Mr. Desroches.
The board voted to have Mr. Desroches contact other candidates.
The board is scheduled to meet on Friday, 1/21 at 11 a.m. to discuss the position. One item on the agenda is in open sesson, the other is in executive session to meet with James F. Kelley about the Interim TA position.
The board is also scheduled to meet in executive session to address open meeting law complaints against the Selectboard by Patrick Higgins dated December 19, 2021.
The board also noted that the town has a number of volunteer positions open on a variety of boards, including the position of Town Moderator.
