Masks Work
Covid is on the rise in Fairhaven, and it doesn’t need to be.
Yesterday my husband and I were in Cambridge. Cambridge is very different from Fairhaven — bigger, with many students and areas that are crowded and far from affluent. Nevertheless, the positivity rate is 0.53% (Fairhaven’s is over 6%), and the daily incidence is 18.7, compared to Fairhaven’s 41.9.
The difference: a mask mandate. Every shop and restaurant posts a sign saying that the City of Cambridge requires masks indoors. Compliance is high, and even on a Sunday evening business was booming. The restaurants were full, and the shops were busy.
This isn’t rocket science. A mask mandate would be good for public health and good for business.
