The boil water order for Fairhaven that was put in place on 10/7, has been lifted. The Board of Public Works sent out an alert on 10/23 saying “after satisfying the State’s sampling requirements, the boil water order has been lifted.”
An explanation on the website states that the September incident and the October incident were related to a “breach” in the well casing of the Tinkham Lane Well eight feet below the surface. The breach “was detected via investigatory camera work and repaired.”
The town will continue to sample and will add sample days to its “already aggressive schedule to ensure that the drinking water remains safe. Also, chlorination and flushing will continue for an extended period of time per the Department of Environmental Protection,” reads the statement.
The town will continue to chlorinate and flush water for an “extended period of time” as ordered by the DEP.
Residents are also advised to fluish their lines and have filters replaced.
“We sincerely appreciated everyone’s patience and understanding,” reads the statement.
Residents should contact the Water Department at 508-979-4032 with any questions.
