Conversations with the Lobster Lady, Fri., 9/17, 17th at 7:00pm, New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park Garden, 33 William Street, New Bedford
New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center and New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park present Conversations with the Lobster Lady. Arguably the world’s oldest licensed lobster fisherman — 101-year-old Virginia Oliver is a one of a kind. This film gives viewers a chance to meet this inspiring woman, who was 99 when the film was made, and ride along as she and her 74-year-old son Max haul their lobster traps in Spruce Head, Maine.
The film will be shown outdoors in the National Park Garden. In the event of inclement weather, we will move indoors with limited seating available on a first come, first serve basis. Masks will be required indoors.
Dock-U-Mentaries is a co-production of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park and the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center. All programs are open to the public and presented free of charge.
This program is part of “Women’s Work,” a year-long series of programs funded by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Women’s Fisheries Network, Mass Cultural Council, and the Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, and Westport Cultural Councils.
