Okay, a fun weekend coming up. The stormin’ from the latest hurricane should be gone by the time the Biggest Little Feast gets underway. OLOA is holding a Festa! (See page 3).
Get ready for the best malassadas of your life. No, really, they’re that good. You’ll have to wait in line for a long time to get them, but I assure you it’s worth it.
And be sure to be around on Monday for the procession at 1 p.m.
Our cover story is lots of fun. Dancing on the sidewalks, not the streets. But you’ll have to go to page 12 to read why.
We have meeting coverage, too: The Select Board and School Committee picked someone to fill Stasia’s seat (see page 4); and the BPW is on page 17.
We also have a couple of notices from commitees: The Belonging Committee is ready to staff up, see page 5 on how to volunteer; and the Community Preservation applications are ready (see page 5).
Lt. Lincoln retired from the Fairhaven Fire Department and went on his “last ride home.” See page 18 for that. And Livesey Park got a spruced up flag pole (see page 18).
And then there’s that yacht fire. Ouch. That was one big fire (see page 19). First off all, I can’t imagine owning a boat like the Miss Dunia. And if I did manage to imagine it, I think I’d be pretty sick about it burning to the water line.
They tell me summer is over, and the scheduling of the fall encampment sure does make it seem that it’s possible.
Meanwhile, back in the present, there’s other fun stuff in here.
