Oh no, is summer really almost gone? School starts in just a couple of weeks.
At least we have some fun events to report on, and to give you the heads up on, too.
Our cover story is one of my very favorite events to cover, the annual Teddy Bear parade. It was canceled last year, so it was even sweeter (see page 12).
The North Fairhaven Improvement Association held its car show last weekend, too (see page 13). Hundreds of cars vied for prizes, while Livesey Park saw some fun action.
Coming up this weekend is the NFIA music night in Benoit Square (see page 3). There will literally be dancing in the streets. Gifts to Give will be at the senior center on Sunday (see page 3). If you have any appropriate items to donate after this long, hot summer, now is the time to dig ‘em out.
We also have some meeting coverage this week. See Select Board on page 4, and Board of Public Works on page 19.
How’s that for negativity, huh? We’re being accused of publishing “swill” and only negative stuff. Yup, Teddy Bears and Purple Heart ceremonies (last week). So negative.
Ugh…I’m not even going to go there this week.
I want to daydream about getting my little boat IN the water. It’s been a crazy summer. The weather simply did not cooperate with my schedule.
Here’s hoping for a mild September!
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 virus is trying to make a comeback. We’re still okay in Mass. because, dare I say it? Because…we have such a high vaccination rate. But, it may not be enough. This new variant is a nasty little bugger.
So, stay vigilant. We have to tamp this thing down so we can move on.
Until next week then… see ya,
