Acushnet’s annual election is just a couple of weeks away, and there is one contested race.
Marc F. Cenerizio, who is the chairperson of the Planning Commission, will be on the ballot challenging long time incumben Kevin Gaspar, Sr.
All other seats are uncontested, and three seats have no candidate.
A three-year term for School Committee is blank on the ballot, for a seat previously held by Craig Sumner.
Two seats on the board of trustees for the library are vacant, previously held by Jennifer Alves and Diane Ferreira.
Other races, all uncontested, are: Assessor, Matthew Lopes, incumbent; Board of Health, David Davignon, incumbent; Commissioner of Trust Funds, Tommy Lipsett, incumbent; Planning Commissioner, David Davignon, who is not the incumbent; Cemetery Board, Paul Fortin, incumbent; Park Commissioner, Chad Leclair, incumbent; Housing Authority, Rene Racine, incumbent; Tree Warden, Norman Fredette, who is not the incumbent.
The annual election is scheduled for Saturday, May 15, 2021. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day. All precincts vote at the Acushnet Elementary School.
