Chair has abandoned Selectboard
I’m looking on the town’s website for the agenda for the next Selectboard meeting, and I don’t find one. At all.
We have no legitimate Town Administrator, and no plan to fix that. At all.
Most of you should know who is responsible for setting Selectboard agendas: Chairman [Daniel] Freitas. By all indications he has just abandoned his job for weeks.
This town desperately needs a qualified, legitimate Town Administrator, and Mr. Freitas’ only actions to date to get us one have been to repeatedly push for his unqualified insider to be appointed interim with the hopes that it turns into the permanent appointment.
Anyone who watched that interview can see that would be a disaster. More aptly put: it would be the continued disaster that has been Mr. Freitas and Mr. [Keith] Silvia’s last full year of failures. Failures that are hurting this town and threatening to seriously hamper our efforts to fill the most important vacant position in our town government.
Who would want to come work under that umbrella of corruption and incompetence? In case there’s any doubt: methodically and intentionally undermining the Town Administrator search process so that one can force their unqualified insider upon us is corruption, plain and simple.
This incompetence, this corruption and this negligence have been carried out by Mr. Freitas and his silent conspirator Mr. Silvia for so long that we might start to think that this is what town government looks like. It isn’t, and I think this town knows it.
I see two things that need to happen to move forward: First we need a new Town Administrator search committee (with no Selectboard members involved.) Second we need Mr. Freitas to resign immediately or be removed from office.
Meanwhile Mr. Silvia has done nothing to earn his seat on that board except further every destructive move Mr. Freitas has made. Both have turned the crucial work of an important office into a bullying, corrupt disaster and they need to go.
