Keep incumbents on School Committee
This past year has been unlike any other that we have experienced in our lives. Not many people can say they have lived through events like these. Navigating education policy, law, budgets, and other issues is difficult during regular times. COVID-19 has made the job 1000x’s harder.
As a school committee, we all take our job seriously and approach every meeting and decision with the utmost thoughtfulness and respect that our community deserves. Especially during the pandemic, we have prioritized allowing the public to speak and express their thoughts during every meeting.
Not everyone will agree with the steps the district has taken to keep our children and staff safe. Still, we made the best decisions we could based on science, data, and state mandates. We acknowledge that this has been difficult for our families and students. Some of these decisions have caused significant hardship and turmoil. I have personally lived through it, having a senior, sophomore, and 7th grader. I have endured tears and learning struggles while trying to work at the same time.
Despite the difficulty, our district has been able to navigate these troubled times due to solid and consistent leadership. This leadership has led to many successes over the past few years that have put Fairhaven Public Schools on the map. Here are a few:
• Funded an innovation program at the elementary level with plans to add it to the middle school. This program goes beyond science by introducing design, research, and engineering concepts.
• Funded a K-2 Literacy Initiative to teach essential literacy skills.
• Became a one-to-one district by providing Chromebooks to all high school students.
• Performed essential upkeep on our middle school to include new windows, doors, roof, floor tiles, ceiling tiles, and fresh paint.
• Added an Early Childhood/ Preschool program at the Leroy Wood School.
• Invested heavily in programs to support student social and emotional well-being with even more emphasis during the pandemic.
For these reasons, I ask you to vote for Colin Veitch and Donna McKenna for School Committee on Monday, April 5. Colin has a wealth of experience and wisdom in dealing with town government and budgets. He has devoted much of his life to service to the school district and town. Donna is a tireless volunteer and still gives 100’s of hours organizing many high school events even though her children have graduated. She has also been our long-time representative to the Southeastern Massachusetts Educational Collaborative board of directors.
They are fantastic advocates for our schools and deserve your support. Let them continue the hard work to make our schools some of the best in the area!

Collasisus has tree knowledge
I feel it is important to support Don Collasius for Tree Warden. He is very knowledgeable about trees, but he also understands the importance of responding to problems as they arise and before they become critical.
Having spoken with him on various occasions, I am convinced that, if elected, he will properly fulfill the role as tree warden. We need someone who is willing to put in the time to thoroughly review and ACT in the best interests of Fairhaven.
