Vote for McKenna & Veitch
I have had the immense honor of getting to know Donna and Colin from when I served as the Student Rep for the board as a senior at Fairhaven High School to now as a member of the School Committee. I am supporting both these candidates because each of them provides their own skill sets to the committee which positively help our students either through policy implementations or through their lived experiences here in the Fairhaven Public Schools district.
Donna McKenna Donna is someone who dedicates so much of her time, even after her two children graduated from high school. Since her first term, she has been involved with SMEC (Southeastern Massachusetts Educational Collaborative), the Civil Rights Task Force Team, the annual Mr. Fairhaven event for seniors and the Fairhaven High School After Prom committee. It is at these committees and our general committee meeting where she provides her input, perspective, thoughts and time on how we, as a community, can best serve our scholars.
These committees serve as essential touch points for us as a greater group to understand how our most vulnerable students are and how we can enrich the lives of our students. To still volunteer for these boards, even after having children graduate from the district, is what dedication means and that, is Donna McKenna.
Colin Veitch What I love about serving with Colin is the historical context he always provides to our group. While it is important to focus on the present, it is just as important to reflect on where we have come, to share what hasn’t worked in the past, and how we can learn from those past bumps to provide the best educational experience for our students.
Colin’s passion for service is still alive today as he also had two children that graduated from the school system, speaks passionately about the K-2 literacy program, and has dedicated his time serving the town on the Town Administrator Search Committee, an important group that decides who the future Town Administrator will be.
It is these reasons and more why I am proud to endorse Donna McKenna and Colin Veitch for another three years on the School Committee.
