Neighb News Publishes Other Opinions
Well… Never let it be said that the Fairhaven Neighborhood News lacks sensitivity to other opinions! [Editor] Beth [David] dutifully published a letter last week from a Sean Hannity sound-alike which defies argument. Unfortunately, it also defies logic and common sense, but that has been the tone accepted by the faithful for the last four years. The letter is not debatable. There appears to be no rationale that could ever have swayed the true followers and faithful of Donald Trump (or Jim Jones) down their respective paths. If all you do is listen to what is being said but never look to see what is really true you will of course have no tolerance for the opposing views, even when based on facts.
However, the letter is worth reading, it starts on page 17 and unfortunately continues on page 22. (2/11/21 issue). People actually believe this! And it seems that no amount of truth, fact, demonstration, proof or even just common sense will alter their impenetrable belief.
It is also a clear display of how serious the problem of division is in this country. “Bi-partisan”… “reach across the aisle”…”working together”… ideals we would like to see in a functioning government are so hampered when political careers continue to depend on satisfying the ego of a narcissist.
Obviously, despite the happenings on November 8th and January 20th, there are many trumpaholics that are still suffering from the “DTs.”
