From our readers: Political Signs Stolen

December 9, 2020 by Staff Writer

Political signs stolen three times

We recently moved into our home on Fort Street in Fairhaven and have enjoyed becoming a part of this beautiful, historic, waterfront town.  Our neighbors are wonderful; walking to the Post Office, Library, Town Hall and Fort Phoenix has been great; seeing the harbor every day heaven!

BUT (You knew it was coming, right?), there is one glaring exception to our otherwise positive experience:  not once, not twice but THREE times our yard signs have been either defaced or stolen. These incidents were reported to the police, not with the expectation that the idiots who were responsible would be apprehended, but because we wanted this criminal behavior on record.

We paid real money for these signs and placed them on OUR PROPERTY!  Two signs were in support of our presidential candidate (who incidentally WON the election). That’s over now; I can let it go. However, the third sign simply states our values and beliefs, what we hold most dear.

The sign reads “In Our America, Black Lives Matter; Science Is Real; We Are All Immigrants; Love Is Love; Feminism Is for Everyone; Kindness Is Everything.”

The sign was prominently displayed next to our front door, approximately 25 feet from the sidewalk.

Who is so small of mind to steal this sign?

Cindy Johnson, Fairhaven
